about

Canons EP is a four song EP, and is a collaboration with Jazz bassist Rashaan Carter. Canons is minimal R&B, that finds itself dabbling in New Age esoterica. Repeating motifs, form the foundation that creates a meditative, and solemn experience. Reminiscent of Arthur Russell and Laurie Anderson. The songs feature straightforward instrumentation and arrangements that intentionally tests the listener’s patience.

Recorded in a month, while caring for my mom, this “bedroom” project is a reflection on fear, mortality, confusion about life and the times we currently live in. I wanted the songs to reflect what I needed for myself at the time, so I created sparse, slow, open arrangements and songwriting. In other words, this EP is simply a statement of sadness, fear, and maybe a little hope.

Track Name: You're New
Off on a new step
I know changing's tough
ripping away stone
dancing's gotten hard
two lives you found to live
while these days are already gone

oh look at the view
you've changed, yeah you're new
there's nothing you've lost
marble and date it
trying to hold on
but nothing's left
only is your love
only is your love ohh

over again
here we carve out our worries
down by the quarry
there
we're fragile in bone
carefully sown
take your part
here in the quarry now
here in the quarry
Track Name: The Rain
Where we come from there's no difference between you and I
where we come from
the night falls sweet like the dawn
where we come from
the moon is queen
we celebrate the rain
the fear is gone
come on settle in
now it's time
time you stayed
in one place
in one place

(celebrate the rain
celebrate the rain)

where you come from
your love is simple
bare a witness by the window
fool my heart
light my side
there you'll rain on me

in one place
in my place

celebrate the rain
celebrate the rain
Track Name: Look up
We gotta stop
consuming everything like a lose fire
we're gonna fall
we're gonna fall hard
and it's gonna only be us
yeah we're gonna fall hard

so come on babe
let's take a walk
let's see where we're from
yeah let's see what we're made of

oh
so look up
look up from your screen look up
Track Name: Canons
I'm not ready to go outside
I don't wanna face these mad men
there's blood on their teeth
waving crimson fingers at me
come on come on come on

let's share a little bit of sun light
oh come on come on come
fears in all of us some nights

Canon on feet
(sinking down down below, sinking on down below)
Canon on feet
(sinking down down below, sinking on down below)
Canon on feet

Living life like I won't know my children
like I won't know my children's children
like I won't know my children's, children's , children
and I don't even feel safe enough to love

Find me down by the docks
no eyes have seen no fuss
there goes the ghost
that celebrates my legacy
come on come on come on

it's easier said than done.

Canon on feet
(sinking down down below, sinking on down below)
Canon on feet
(sinking down down below, sinking on down below)
Canon on feet
